A Trip Home

Sometimes life can make us turn sharp corners.  On Monday we were celebrating New Zealand's 1 all draw in the world cup with macaroni cheese and our one tin of Indian Spiced Tomatoes ... and by the end of the week our high had turned into a low and we were flying back to NZ unexpectedly.  We received the call that most people away from their loved ones dread...

Mum's stroke was described as 'massive' and for a few days there we weren't sure if she would be spending much more time with us.  But the will power and strength of our little mother came through and within three weeks she has moved into a nursing home in the Wairarapa, able to eat, drink, talk and write with the potential to improve over time.

It is hard to describe the emotions we felt during those three weeks so I won't even try - but we couldn't have made it without the support from our friends, Mum's friends and the rest of our family. I hope that we can be as supportive and caring to our friends and family when they need us.

"Friends are quiet angels who lift us to our feet when our wings have trouble remembering to fly."

Being back in England is certainly bringing with it a mixed bag of emotions which will take time to sort out.
